Lancer boys finish first, girls finish fourth at St. John’s Invite

DELPHOS – Lincolnview enjoyed a strong showing at Saturday’s Delphos St. John’s Invitational, with the boys scoring 143 points to bring home the championship trophy, while the girls finished with 94 points, to finish fourth out of eight teams.

“It was a great meet for both teams,” head coach Matt Langdon said. “We had a tough week of practice, and it was good to see the kids come out and compete at such a high level. They fought hard the entire meet and showed great focus and preparation.”

Ryan Rager claimed first place finishes in the 400 meter run (52.77 seconds) and the long jump (19-08.75), while Evan Cox placed first in the high jump (5-8.00).

The 4×800 meter relay team of Karter Tow, Alek Bowersock, Jacob Keysor and Austin Elick took first place (8:58.88 seconds), as did the 4×400 meter relay team of Logan Williams, Brad Korte, Elick and Rager (3:44.84 seconds).

Second place finishes were claimed by Tow (1600 and 3200 meter runs), Elick (800 meter run) and Korte (high jump).

On the girls side, Olivia Gorman placed first in the long jump (14-00.00) along with the 4×100 meter relay team of Gorman, Raegan Boley, Brooke Thatcher and Makenna Klausing (55.93 seconds).

Klausing also finished second in the long jump.

Softball

Lincolnview, Kalida split doubleheader

The Lady Lancers won game one 13-7, but the Lady Wildcats won game two 5-4 during Saturday’s doubleheader at Lincolnview High School.

Lana Carey finished the afternoon with six hits, Carly Wendel had four, and Lakin Brant, Alana Looser and Zoe Miller each had three.

Lincolnview (3-6) will host Paulding today.

Tennis

Cougars compete at Elida Invite

ELIDA — Gahanna Lincoln won Saturday’s four-team Elida Invitational with 16 points, while Van Wert and Wapakoneta tied for second with seven points apiece. The host Bulldogs finished fourth, with six points.

Van Wert’s Ryan Keber claimed second place honors, as did the doubles duo of Michael Etter and Gabe Rollins.

The Cougars will return to Elida tomorrow, for regular season Western Buckeye League action against the Bulldogs.
