Lincolnview drops two to Fairview

SCOTT TRUXELL/independent sports editor

The Lincolnview Lancers ran into a buzzsaw Saturday, dropping both games of a baseball doubleheader against the state-ranked Fairview Apaches (third in Division III), 7-4 and 10-0.

In game one, Lincolnview trailed 6-0 in the fourth, but the Lancers put three runs on the board in the bottom of the inning. With two outs, Jaden Youtsey hit a triple to center field that scored Brayden Evans and Ethan Kemler, then Youtsey scored on an RBI single by Braxton Fox.

The Lancers scored again in the sixth inning, when Fox hit a single that plated Gavin Carter to make it 6-4.

The Apaches sealed the victory with an insurance run in the seventh.

The Lancers did manage to  load the bases in the bottom of the inning with singles by Nick Motycka and Evans, and a walk by Ethan Parsons, but the game ended with back-to-back strikeouts.

Lincolnview (4-10) was held to three hits in the second game, and fell 10-0 in six innings. Youtsey, Evans and Nick Motycka each singled for the Lancers.

Fairview (12-1) scored once in the second inning, twice in the fourth, four in the fifth and two more in the sixth. The Apaches finished the game with 13 hits.
