Local man waives right to speedy trial

An Ohio City man signed a waiver of his constitutional right to a speedy trial during a hearing held Wednesday in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

Andrew Thomas, 35, signed the time waiver in open court to allow more time to research and prepare his case. Judge Martin D. Burchfield also scheduled a pretrial conference in the case for 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 5.
