Judge David Prior, former Van Wert portrait photographer, carefully examined each of the five classes in the Jr. and Sr. color and B/W sections of the photography display at the fair before announcing his decisions.  He often commented to onlookers why he selected one photo over another or what it would have taken to make another a contender.

Van Wert Area Photography Club members were on hand to record his decisions in the department book and attach the first, second, or third place ribbons and Best of Show rosettes to the winning photographs.  Prior stated that even though the number of pictures was less this year, he thought the quality was up.

Special congratulations go to Lindsay McCoy Girod, who won the Best of Show in Through the Window Sr. Color and Celebrating Nature in Sr. B/W.  This was her second consecutive year for a Sr. Best of Show sweep.  Abbey Bradford was awarded Best of Show for her Celebrating Nature photo in Jr. B/W and Luke Heffelfinger was the Jr. Color Best of Show winner for his Food Lovers photo.  Each Best of Show award winner also receives a $10 check from the Van Wert Photography Club.

When the judging was completed VWAPC members moved all the entry tags to where they could be read by viewers interested in information about that photograph.

The club’s next regularly scheduled meeting will be a photo shoot at Camp Clay, which is west of Van Wert at 9169 Liberty Union Rd..  Members are asked to assemble in the parking lot on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m.
