Cougar golfers defeated by Defiance

The Van Wert varsity golf team took on the Defiance Bulldogs at Willow Bend Country Club Monday evening. The Bulldogs proved to be too much for the Cougars as they won 167-183.

Jared Hernandez was the match medalist with a 38, while runner-up medalist was Defiance’s Jacob Black.

Other scores for Van Wert included Zach Lyvers (44), Colton Deschner (49), Austin Bissonette (52), and Carter Eikenbary and Ryan Keber, who each posted a 56 for the 2-4 conference squad.

Sammy Assae tallied a 41, with Jack Vanderhorst and Trevor Rose scoring a 43 for the Bulldogs. Defiance improves to 5-1 in conference play.

Van Wert returns to action today at Bryan and Madison Buecker will participate in the Willow Bend Invitational on Thursday.
