Eagle scout candidate to host exercise

MIDDLE POINT — Charles Sherer, an Eagle Scout candidate for Troop 32, will be conducting a mass casualty training exercise to benefit the Middle Point Volunteer Fire Department. The exercise will be held at the Middle Point Community Building, 300 W. Sycamore St.; rain or shine.

The training will involve the simulated crash of a school bus to provide needed training for the local fire department in responding to similar incidents in the future. The safety briefing for the participants will be at 9:30 a.m. and 9-1-1 will be called at 10 that morning to initiate the training.

Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from the area will be the simulated victims for the training, providing a diverse training opportunity for the fire department.
