Warrior Trail dedication this Saturday

VW independent/submitted information

OHIO CITY — The Warrior Trail bicycle and walking path will be formally dedicated this Saturday, July 30, at 10 a.m. at the new shelterhouse at the south end of Main Street trail site in Ohio City.

As part of the dedication, the Warrior Trail Committee will be giving away two free bicycles, compliments of Ed “Fast Eddie” and Jacquie Reinemeyer and The Bike Hub in Celina.

Those attending the dedication will be given a ticket, and a drawing will be held at the end of the ceremony to give away a women’s 20-inch Sun Cruiser, and men’s Sun Revolutions bicycle.

The committee is still accepting Friends of the Trail donations to help pay for additions and upkeep to the shelter area, and along the path itself. Deadline is October 1 for those who want their name or their business’ name to appear on a permanent sign to be placed at the shelter.

People can become a part of the Ohio City Greenway Project and “Warrior Trail” by contributing $20 or more. Donating $100 or more earns the donor silver status, while contributions of $500 or more earn gold status, and will be recognized as such. The names of all those donating $20 or more will be listed and recognized on a permanent sign at the shelterhouse/staging area.

For more information on how to donate, contact Larry Krugh, 419.965.2531 or lgkrugh@roadrunner.com or Brenda Weaver, 419.965.2000 or garden_gypsy@yahoo.com (or click here for a donation form).

The project was a joint effort of the Van Wert County Park District and Ohio City Warrior Trail Committee.
