Richard W. Hoffhines

Richard W. “Beakie” Hoffhines, 84, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday morning, July 20, 2016, at the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.

He was born November 11, 1931, in Rockford, the son of Donald and Elizabeth (Smith) Hoffhines, who both preceded him in death. On August 13, 1952, he married the former Sharon Joan Cryer, who died March 2, 2007.

Survivors include three children, Dave (Donna) Hoffhines of Coldwater, Randy (Kim) Hoffhines of Sycamore, Illinois, and Cyndi (Jim) Runneals of Rockford; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry (Connie) Hoffhines of Pinellas Park, Florida; and one sister, Jeanette (Phil) Freed of Maricopa, Arizona.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, with graveside military honors rendered by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5731 in Celina.

Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Friday, July 22, and an hour prior to services at the funeral home, where the Rockford Eagles will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday.
