VW Fire Equip. opens expanded facilities

VW independent news

Van Wert Fire Equipment owners Jenni and Brandon Bowen cut the ribbon Thursday on their renovated and expanded facilities.

After purchasing a county-owned building across the street from their main facility at 134 E. Crawford St., the Bowens moved their hydro-testing and fire extinguisher recharging operations to that building and renovated their main facility to provide an expanded showroom for the company’s wide selection of firefighting equipment.

In addition to fire extinguishers, generators, and smoke detectors for home and business, Van Wert Fire Equipment provides turnout gear for professional firefighters, including firefighting suits, escape ladders, axes, Jaws of Life equipment, and much more.

Van Wert Fire Equipment is also a distributor for fire equipment, providing customers with a direct link to the companies it represents.

“If something goes wrong with something, we have that direct link because we’re distributors,” Jenni Bowen said.

In addition to equipment, Van Wert Fire Equipment provides 24/7 on-call services to northwest Ohio fire departments to replace non-functioning equipment, sometimes even taking the items to a fire scene.

Jenni Bowen noted that, with several members of her staff — including her — being members of area fire departments, the company is not just another business to them.

To celebrate its renovated and expanded facilities, Van Wert Fire Equipment will be having an open house from 1-5 this Saturday. The open house will include food and drink and door prizes.
