Local United Way marks Ohio 2-1-1 Day

In honor of Ohio 2-1-1 Day, February 11 has been adopted by the Ohio Senate to recognize United Way’s in Ohio for its contribution to this program.

The Ohio Senate passed Senate Resolution 325 to recognize 67 of Ohio’s 88 counties that are currently participating in the program. Van 2-1-1Wert County is in its second year of participation and has seen great results to the contacts and referrals that people have received.

The cost of the program was initially underwritten by a grant from the Ohio United Way. The local United Way will be looking at future funding avenues to continue of a great program.

2-1-1 is a free, confidential information and referral telephone service designed to help individuals and families get access to social, health, and government resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When people call 2-1-1 they are connected with a trained, professional specialist who is ready to help find answers to topics such as food, housing, child card, employment, substance abuse, tax preparation, and health care.
