Michael L. Kennedy

Michael L. Kennedy of Kalamazoo, Michigan, did Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at his residence.

He was born April 8, 1935, in Van Wert, the son of Merl L. “Tim” and Lenore A. Kennedy, who both preceded him in death. On December 26, 1956, he married Madeline M. Kennedy, who died May 9, 2015.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Brenda Kennedy of Quincy, Michigan; two grandchildren, Charity (Forest) Smith and Lacy (Rob) Kennedy; six great-grandchildren, Gavin Smith, Paige Smith, Teagan Payne, Joshua Wheaton, Alexis Kennedy, and Alik Kennedy; and a cousin, Elise Stevens of Ohio City.

A son, Robert P. Kennedy; one sister, Ann Kennedy (in infancy); and two grandchildren, Paul and Joshua, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Kennedy was a retired land surveyor with the United States Geological Survey. He was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 19, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: NRA or Animal Protective League.
