Vivian E. Thomas, 94, of Van Wert, passed away at 5:06 a.m. Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was born October 28, 1920, in St. Charles, Michigan, the daughter of William E. and Grace (Baum) Nichols, who both preceded her in death. On May 28, 1957, she married Orville E. Thomas, who passed away November 2, 1995.

She is survived by six children, Mary (James) Gunter of Elida, John (Diane) Adelblue of Canby, Oregon, Barbara Adelblue of Pensacola, Florida, Martha Martin of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Shirley (Randy) Miller of Ohio City and Thomas Joe Thomas of Middlebury; a stepdaughter, Georgia (Larry) Adam of Van Wert; and a sister, Leda Booth of Van Wert. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A son, Richard (Trina) Adelblue; and two grandchildren, John Mark Eyanson and Mary Vivian Amell, also preceded her in death.

She had been a member of the former Calvary United Methodist Church of Van Wert and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 178. She retired from Teleflex Corporation and had also worked at several other factories. After her retirement, she provided home health care for older residents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Clark Williman officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

Calling hours are from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, and an hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
