James L. Pierstorff

James L. “Jim” Pierstorff, 80, of Rockford, died at 4:41 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born April 8, 1935, in Mercer County, the son of Victor L. and Beulah Elizabeth (Gehm) Pierstorff, who both preceded him in death. On August 27, 1960, he married Carol Rose (Miller) Pierstorff, who survives in Rockford.

Other survivors include a son, Michael Pierstorff of Elkhart, Indiana; two grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Rex (Dee) Miller of Berne, Indiana, and Donnie (Susie) Miller of Rockford; and three sisters-in-law, Mary (Archie) Hill of Huntertown, Indiana, Sharon (Jerry) Agler of Tennessee and Sally Miller of Bluffton, Indiana.

A sister, Carol Pierstorff; and a brother-in-law, Merrill Miller, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, August 28, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Karen Tamorria officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, August 27, at an hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hopewell or the Rockford Recreation Fund.
