Vera M. Pruden

Vera M. Pruden, 92, of rural Rockford, died at 8:26 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Laurels of Shane Hill near Rockford.

She was born November 11, 1922, in Schumm, the daughter of Alfred Lawrence “Jack” and Viola Henrietta (Reidenbach) Handwerk, who both preceded her in death. On February 11, 1965, she married Glenn Gaylord Pruden, who died September 25, 2001.

Survivors include a son, Jerry (Billie) Handwerk of Ridgeville, Indiana; one stepdaughter, Ruth (Carl) Lape of Van Wert; a stepson, John (Helen) Pruden of rural Rockford; one sister, Donna M. Taylor of Venice, Florida; and four grandchildren.

A stepson, William Pruden; one brother, Doyle Lester Handwerk; and a sister, Anna Lucille Eber, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
