Tina Josephine Mayes

Tina Josephine Mayes, 46, of Van Wert, died at 3:33 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born October 30, 1968, in Paulding, the daughter of Donald Dodson Jr., who preceded her in death, and Kay (Glass) Dodson, who survives in Defiance. She married Thomas Sterling Mayes, who also survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include three daughters, Tawnie Johnson, Ashley Mayes and Emily Mack; two sisters, Alisha Bishop and Kerrie Tressler; a brother, Kelly Dodson; and eight grandchildren.

Her grandfather, Donald Dodson Sr., and a grandmother, Clara Moden, also preceded her in death.

She was a member of Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert and worked with the Challenged Higher organization. She was also employed for a number of years at KAM Manufacturing in Van Wert. She and her husband were foster parents for a number of children over the years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Trinity Friends Church, with Pastor Steve Savage officiating.  Burial will be in Venedocia Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
