An all-new program of music has been prepared to perform at this concert. Music to be featured will include premiers of music arranged and composed by two of the band’s own members. Scott Turner, a music education major at The Ohio State University, has arranged a medley of popular praise and worship songs. Pastor Chip Steffey has arranged a variation of two familiar hymns titled “Our Song Shall Rise”. He has also written a Civil War-era selection that depicts a battle fought in Ohio during this war titled “Bluffington Island”.

Longtime Van Wert area musician Glen Poling will be featured on a guitar solo “Invitation”. Poling started play in 1933 after he received his first guitar. He is a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.

Poling continues to make music in the local area and in Florida. Also part of the program will be music from the ‘70s and ‘80s, a saxophone section feature and selections from the movie The Patriot written by John Williams.

A food stand will be available prior to the concert provided by the Eastern Star. Please join the band, directed by Richard Sherrick and featuring members from Van Wert, Elgin, Delphos, Convoy, Chat, Middle Point, Spencerville and Rockford, for this special concert.

In the event of inclement weather, the program will be canceled. Access local media outlets for cancellation information.
