Marjorie Ruth Arn

Marjorie Ruth Arn, 93, of rural Convoy, passed away peacefully at 2:40 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born December 8, 1921, in Ohio City, the daughter of William O. and Ruth Marie (Stewart) Blush, who both preceded her in death. On August 26, 1940, she married Walter H. Arn, who died January 19, 1997. She later married David Roger Jones, who died in May 2009.

Mrs. Arn was a mother, homemaker and farm wife. She graduated from Ohio City-Liberty High School in 1939, where she played basketball. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy and the Fidelitis Guild. She had been a member of Convoy Grange, Van Wert Count Pomona Grange and the National Grange. She was also a member of Convoy Japonica Garden Club.

She and Walter enjoyed traveling with their Coachman motor home and had gone to Alaska, Florida, Arizona and Texas. They belonged to the Good Sams Camping Club, Auglaize Valley Coachmen’s Club, Van Wert County Farm Bureau and the National Holstein Association.

Marjorie was an accomplished seamstress and had won awards for her fashions. She liked to enter her homegrown flowers in shows and had won many blue ribbons over the years. She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre and Liverpool Rum.

Survivors include four sons, Jeffery (Sue) Arn, Carl (Cheryle) Arn, Michael (Sherri) Arn and Rex (Patti) Arn, all of Van Wert; three daughters, Nancy (Paul) England of South Vienna, Marcia (Dale) Laukhuf of Lima and Jo (Brad) Green of Easley, South Carolina; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Lawrence (RuthAnn) Blush or Archbold; one sister, Jayne Selby of Celina; and many nieces and nephews.

An infant son, two grandsons, three brothers, Richard, George and David Blush; and one sister, Christine Farlow, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 1, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy, with the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Preferred memorials: Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
