Janet Louise (Shaffer) O’Neill

Janet Louise (Shaffer) O’Neill, 73, of rural Middle Point, died at 2:09 p.m. Monday , March 23, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born July 24, 1941, near Rockford, the daughter of Hoyt and Edith (Whittenbarger) Shaffer, who both preceded her in death. On November 18, 1961, she married T. James O’Neill, who survives in Middle Point.

Other survivors include three children, Kevin J. (Connie) O’Neill of New Bremen, Cheryl (Shawn) Klinker of Van Wert and Brian (Jody) O’Neill, of Rockford; sister, Dorothy Christian of Lexington, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Shirley Shaffer of Decatur, Indiana; a brother-in-law, Patrick (Phyllis) O’Neill of Mendon; and nine grandchildren.

A brother, Lowell Shaffer; and one brother-in-law, Bill Christian, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with John A. Rager officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Friday, March 27, at the funeral home.
