With the increase in train traffic going through Van Wert now, local agencies felt they needed to make sure they have a game plan together should a derailment occur in the county.

“Being able to sit down with local EMA and fire departments is really great for our Red Cross Disaster Team,” said Red Cross Disaster Chair Mark Klausing. “This builds a great relationship between the agencies so that when disaster hits, we communicate a lot better and get things done faster for the community.”

In addition to McCoy and Klausing, those attending the meeting include Red Cross Disaster Team members Amy Schroeder, Beth Marchek, Sean McKenzie, Lori Kreischer, Greg Roberts and Rodney Knauss, as well as Northwest Ohio Red Cross Disaster Manager Bill Steinbrunner and Craig Meyer and Chris High of Wren Fire/EMS Department.
