Iola May Roth Huffine

Iola May Roth Huffine, 96, of Sumter, South Carolina, widow of John Phelan Huffine, died Monday, January 26, 2015, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Van Wert, the daughter of Charles Martin Roth and Ethel P. (Mace) Roth, who both preceded her in death.

Mrs. Huffine was a member of Ohio City United Methodist Church and attended First Southern Methodist Church of Sumter. She and her husband operated a small farm in Ohio prior to their retirement. Mrs. Huffine was an avid letter writer.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice (Helmut) Breitwieser of Sumter; four grandchildren, Tammy (John) Robinson, Angela (Larry) Keith, Jeffrey (fiancée Martha Duncan) Breitwieser and Stacey (Duane) Schmierer; 10 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Lindsey, Michael, Sarah, Riley, Madalyn, Kathryn, Joseph, Luke, and Olivia; and a special friend, Dora Polk, with whom she shared many laughs.

A son, Charles Vernon Huffine, also preceded her in death.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 7, at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Preferred memorials: First Southern Methodist Church in Sumter, South Carolina, or Ohio City United Methodist Church.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter handled funeral arrangements.
