Connie L. Habegger

Connie L. Habegger, 81, of Van Wert, died at 4 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was born June 8, 1933, in Wren, the daughter of Gaylord and Hazel V. (Cully) Poling, who both preceded her in death. On June 8, 1950, she married Vernell V. Habegger, who died November 17, 2002.

Mrs. Habegger was a member of Countryside Chapel in Convoy and a former member of Wren United Methodist Church, where she served on the Trinity Guild. She also served as treasurer of the Wren Bible School Board for many years and was a member of the Wren Historical Society.

Connie was a homemaker and had worked at Lynch Corporation in Wren; CTS in Berne, Indiana, and Cooper Farms in Van Wert. She was “Grandma Connie” to many children, having babysat for years.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlene  (Ron) Price of Ossian, Indiana; two sons, Randy (Nita) Habegger of Willshire and Gale (Marilyn) Habegger of Convoy; six grandchildren, Tony (Heather) Falls, Tina (Ben) Burson, Taya Habegger, Shawn (Melissa) Falls, Ty (Laura) Habegger and Austin Habegger; and five great-grandchildren, Isaac Burson, Danica Burson, Hudson Falls, Mallory Falls and Elizabeth Habegger.

Two brothers, Arlo Poling and Adrian Poling; and a sister, Thelma Poling, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, with Pastors Wayne Karges and Lynn Mefford officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Wren EMS, Countryside Chapel or the Crestview Heritage Board.
