Don’t forget the Lincolnview Local Education Association is hosting a Scholarship Chicken Dinner to help support the scholarships currently provided to your students. The LLEA currently provides three $1000 scholarships that are renewable for a second year. Each year the LLEA supports Lincolnview graduates with a total of $6000 a year to further their education.

Everyone is urged to come out before the boys’ basketball game on Jan. 30 against Delphos Jefferson and help support the scholarship fund. Dinners will be served from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria (eat-in or carryout). The menu will include: half a smoked chicken, green beans, scalloped potatoes, cookies and drinks. The cost for each dinner is $7.50. You can eat-in or carry out. Remember, it is also FAN night, so get here early!

Each of the first grade classrooms are working on writing a classroom book. The books will be published through Studentreasures Book Publishing Company. Students have an opportunity to purchase their classroom book through the company, once they have been completed. The book titles include: Izzy the Gingerbread Frog, Olaf at the Beach, and What If I Had… (a book about the students having features that animals typically have, e.g. frog feet).

Kylee Mongold, eighth-grader, and Kirsten Stemen, seventh-grader, will represent Lincolnview Junior High in the Van Wert County Spelling Bee on Feb. 5. The Bee will be held at the Marsh Auditorium at 7 p.m.  We wish Kylee and Kirsten good luck!

Brad Korte and Alexis Miller recently placed second and third respectively, in the VFW Patriot’s Pen Essay contest. The theme this year was “Why I Appreciate American’s Veterans.” Both were recently recognized at a banquet and asked to read their essays.
