Robert D. Waltmire Jr.

Robert D. Waltmire Jr., 50, of Van Wert, went home to be with his Heavenly Father at 12:12 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born January 19, 1964, in Van Wert, the son of Johnette (Dempsey) Waltmire, who survives in Van Wert, and Robert Waltmire Sr., who preceded him in death.

Other survivors include a son, Justin (Abigail) McBurnie of Indianapolis, Indiana; one brother, Randall (Sherri) Waltmire of Coldwater; and two grandchildren, Kalee and McKenna McBurnie. He is also survived by the love of his life, Laurie Beaverson of Van Wert; six stepchildren, Natasha (Jeremy) Roberson, Andrew (Jenna) Beaverson, Michelle Stripe, Adam Stripe, Chad Stripe, Noah Collins, and Alexis Dunlap; three stepgrandchildren, Jacoby Roberson, Jax Roberson and Makenna Beaverson; and his best friend, his cockatoo, Sonny.

Mr. Waltmire worked at Eaton Corporation in Van Wert for 20 years. He was a 1982 graduate of Van Wert High School, a member of American Legion Post 178 and the Legion Riders of Van Wert, and Cruiser Club Chapter 6, also of Van Wert.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 7, at American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert.
