Before Christmas break, a group of junior high students decided to raise money for either a Lincolnview family or a teen on the Angel tree at WalMart. The students walked around with Christmas stockings asking for donations from students and staff members. Not only did the students ask for donations, but the staff decided to compete against the students by asking for donations also. If the students collected more money than the staff, then the principal would get a “pie” in the face. If the staff raised more money than the students, then the students responsible for organizing the fundraiser would take a pie in the face from the staff.

To aid in making Christmas a little brighter for a local family, the students also received permission to organize three days of “dress up.” Those who participated in the dress up days would pay $1 for participation. The students who organized this fundraiser were: Shy Schodowski, Dannielle Baer, Brayden Langdon, Riley Webb, Gabrielle Perkins, Sara Campbell, Noah Riley, Jaden Spray and Natalie Fetzer.

At 2:55 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 the junior high students were called to the gym to recognize the group of students mentioned above and to receive a pie in the face from a junior high staff member. The total amount raised between the staff and students was $261.85.
Lincolnview Elementary receives federal funds that help pay for a supplemental reading and writing program for students who are struggling in Kindergarten through second grade. The purpose of the program is to provide extra reading and writing time with a specially trained teacher for children needing extra help in these areas. The students are seen in groups of five or six at a time. The program focuses on phonics, sight words, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and writing.
