Roadrunners

The Van Wert Elementary School Wellness Committee met recently to discuss the culmination of its highly successful “Roadrunner Club”. From early September through October, the Roadrunner Club had 160 students participate two nights a week for 75 minutes each night. During that time, Roadrunner Club members also ran in several 1K races locally, and are sponsoring their first “Turkey Trot” Family 1K Run this Saturday, November 8, at Van Wert Elementary School. Race registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the 1K run at 9:30. The “entrance fee” is a canned good for The Salvation Army Food Bank. The Wellness Committee is also sponsoring a Pancake & Sausage Breakfast that morning (November 8) from 7:30-11 a.m. in the Commons. All proceeds from the Turkey Trot and pancake breakfast go toward VWES wellness initiatives (Roadrunner Club, 100-Mile Club, walking program, Family Get Movin’ Night). (VWES photo)
