Opal Colegrove

Opal Colegrove, 78, of Convoy, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2014, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born February 25, 1936, in Harlan County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late David and Catherine (Taylor) Wilson. On March 20, 1956, she married Orbie Melvin Colegrove, who preceded her in death on October 28, 2003.

Survivors include two daughters, Jamie L. (Stuart) Ramos of Convoy and Vickie S. (Dennis) Schulte of Van Wert; a brother, Omar; three sisters, Jeannie, Ellen and Evie; five grandchildren, Denae (Steve) Bishop, Nick (Lindsay) Schulte, Jordan White, Tyler White and Olivia Ramos; and two great-grandchildren, Jack Bishop and Bella Schulte.

Five brothers, Jerry, Clyde, Orville, Earl and James; and a sister, Christine, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Colegrove had been a hostess at McDonald’s restaurant in Van Wert and was a babysitter for several area families over the years.

She attended Jennings Road Church of Christ in Van Wert.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor David Ray officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, and an hour prior to services Thursday, at the funeral home.
