The Lincolnview Senior Government class welcomed Linda Stutz from the Van Wert County Board of Elections to their classroom on Sept. 3 and 4. While there, Stutz spoke to the students about the voting process and its importance while also registering students to vote. The students were also given an opportunity to sign up to be poll workers in Van Wert County for the upcoming election on Nov. 4.

Junior High students in Mrs. Johnson’s classroom are getting an early sampling of the new technology that will become available later on this month. All of Mrs. Johnson’s history students are using Google Classroom, as a conservative approach to a more paper – less classroom. Students can turn in work electronically, or access projects via the internet. Any document created in the individual student’s google docs, is automatically saved and can be viewed at any time by the teacher. Paper assignments will still be an option but this definitely decreases the “But my dog ate my history assignment…” excuse.

Lincolnview students recently competed in Environmental Science to see who could make the best solar oven.  The goal was to bake chocolate chip cookies using just the energy of the sun.  Many groups were successful, but there was one group that got the highest temperature, Skyler Whitaker, Jacob Pollock, Nichole Bowen, and Tyler Stewart.

Parents and students – mark your calendars now for the upcoming College Night to be held at Vantage Career Center on Sept. 24 from 6:30 until 8 p.m.. All students, along with their parents, should attend this event. There will be at least 50 representatives from various colleges as well as each branch of the military in attendance. This is a good opportunity to visit several colleges and get some questions answered all in one place.

The Lincolnview Local Education Association would like to encourage everyone to use our SCRIP program, whether spending money for you, others, or wanting to buy gift cards as a gift. You can buy your cards through the LLEA SCRIP program, then use them to purchase your own products including: groceries, gas, books, clothes, online purchases, etc. Of course, you can also give them as gift cards for that special occasion. If you have been wanting to try this service, we would like to encourage you to do so this Monday, Sept. 15, because for 24 hours the LLEA will receive bonuses with each purchase. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, you must have an account where you can login to place your orders online. If you don’t have an account, you must set it up now, because it will take 2-5 business days to verify a new account. So we encourage you to sign up now.

To create an account, you will need to go to www.shopwithscrip.com. You will create your own account with your own username and password. You will complete the appropriate information, including email address, and if you are a parent, please complete the information regarding your child’s teacher name and grade. You will use the organization enrollment number 78A81AL534389. Then you can enjoy shopping in the privacy of your own home. When done, click check out and your order will then be placed on the LLEA order to be approved. You can pay for your cards by any of the following: check made out to LLEA, cash, or PrestoPay, on-line providing your check routing number (this will cost you 15 cents per check).

This fundraiser helps support the scholarships that the LLEA provide for your Lincolview students. We currently provide three scholarships in the amount of $1,000 and they are renewable for a second year. So each year the LLEA supports Lincolnview graduates in the amount of $6,000 a year to further their education. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Susan Tenhundfeld, stenhundfeld@lincolnview.k12.oh.us, or call the high school at 419.968.2214.
