Balloons coming to 2014 VW County Fair

Until it officially ended this past year, the Hot Air Festival was held the weekend following the fair. However, because of several factors, including weather, balloonmeister scheduling, consideration of planning, the economy and proximity to the fair, it made sense this year to try and combine the two events, offering “one-stop shopping” for hot air balloon lovers and fairgoers alike.

So, for those area residents familiar with the Hot Air Festival or Hot Air Affair of the past, don’t despair.  This year, balloons will be incorporated into the 158th Van Wert County Fair.  Not only can people experience a balloon glow in front of the Grandstand as part of the Triple Play on Saturday night, balloon launches are scheduled for 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of the fair: August 30, 31, and Labor Day, September 1.

Balloon rides are also available to the public; call the fair office at 419.238.9270 to schedule a time.  Tethered rides will also be available for those less daring or more concerned with heights.
