Our next “After Notes” following the Fountain Park Concert series is scheduled on July 25 following Scarborough. Enjoy good company, a glass of wine, or beer. After Notes at Wassenberg Art Center is open until 10 p.m. on Fridays or until everyone goes home. We are working hard to help expand our dynamic downtown activities.

Check out The Best of 2014 a national level, traveling, multi-media exhibit curated by the Ohio Design and Craft Museum in Columbus. The exhibit showcases how craft (functional objects) have morphed into a fine art. Woven giant critters, sterling silver mustaches, and twisted quilts make up just a small portion of these compelling works. The Best of 2014 opened this past Saturday with pie, ice cream and live music by Matt Keeler and the Blues Reveler. Van Wert is extremely fortunate to have been chosen to exhibit this body of work. It will be on view through August 24.

The Watercolor Techniques class continues on Tuesday mornings starting at 10 a.m. This is an ongoing class taught by Pat Rayman. People are encouraged to jump in anytime and the class is sold in monthly increments. $35 for members and $40 for non-members.

Vine & Palette is just around the corner for Aug. 7 and we always end up a waiting list. Call soon if you would like to join us for the evening. The evening includes all painting materials and wine and participants may bring a snack to share if they wish. We take care of the rest. Wear a paint shirt or apron to protect your clothes. $25 for members and $30 for non-members.

Pottery pottery! Starting in early September, The Rev. Hal Schafer will be joining us as an instructor in our ceramics comingWACstudio! Hal graduated from Mount Union University and learned to throw pottery at Culver Military Academy at the age of 14. He also attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco. We are super excited to have Hal on board. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to throw ceramic pots, September 8–12 from 6–9 p.m. ages 15–150. Cost for the class is $40 members/$45 non-members all materials included.

Rumble, rumble…we have plans, plans and it’s big. We are building another big event so please follow our news, you won’t want to miss this one.
