Hanging our various exhibits are different from each other as one human is different from another. No two are alike and each can present challenges. First of all, if the exhibit is considered a national level show like our current The Best of 2014, much of it arrives in wooden crates with precise instructions on opening the container. Each piece has to be recorded and inspected for damage. Any damage present is logged into a tracking sheet. At the time the exhibit closes, we do it all again only backwards. Finally we rent a big truck, which hopefully I remember how to drive and load everything up very carefully and gingerly drive the exhibit to its next destination. Breaker, Breaker, ten-four good buddy.

The Best of 2014 is a national level, traveling, multi-media exhibit curated by the Ohio Design and Craft Museum in Columbus. The exhibit showcases how craft (functional objects) have morphed into a fine art. Woven giant critters, sterling silver mustaches, and twisted quilts make up just a small portion of these compelling works. The Best of 2014 opened this past Saturday with pie, ice-cream and live music by Matt Keeler and the Blues Reveler. It will be on view through Aug. 24.

Our next “After Notes” following the Fountain Park Concert series is scheduled on July 25 following Scarborough. Enjoy good company, a glass of wine, or beer. After Notes at Wassenberg Art Center is open until 10 p.m. on Fridays or until everyone goes home. We are working hard to help expand our dynamic downtown activities.
