School taking Kindergarten+ registrations

St. Mary School information

St. Mary of the Assumption School will be accepting registrations for its Kindergarten Plus program starting Monday, August 4.

The Kindergarten Plus program is unique opportunity for students who were born between May 1, 2009, and August 1, 2010, to be integrated into the kindergarten classroom and curriculum. Using the Montessori educational multiage age classroom and curriculum approach, Kindergarten Plus students will be in the same classroom as regular kindergarten students and exposed to much of the same curriculum.

Montessori education is an educational approach developed by Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori and is characterized by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological, physical, and social development. The program has been developed to provide Kindergarten Plus students with a greater understanding of kindergarten academic standards by exposing them to a more complex set of curriculum than they would receive in their last year of preschool. The Kindergarten Plus program is not designed for students to advance to first grade, but to be better prepared for regular kindergarten the following year.

Kindergarten Plus students will attend classes from 8:25 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Tuition and fees for the Kindergarten Plus program is $960 for the year. Tuition assistance is available for those who qualify.

Parents may pick up Kindergarten Plus registration forms at the school office between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, beginning August 4. Don’t delay, as enrollment is limited to the first 10 applicants.

For more information about the Kindergarten Plus program, call the school office at 419.238.5186 or email Principal Dan Metzger at dmetzger@stmarysvanwert.com.

St. Mary’s is also still accepting student registrations for students in grades K-6.
