Health Fair at Lincolnview

The Kids Health Fair was held at Lincolnview on Friday, May 16. The students took a quiz after learning about the following topics at the health fair:

  1. Physical Activity: components of safe exercise include cardiorespiratory, muscle strength, muscle endurance, and flexibility.
  2.  Nutrition- Food Fear Factor with Jicama and Pomegranate:  What is Vitamin C and Fiber and what are the benefits of each.
  3. Dentistry/Oral Health by Dr. Jessica Jeffrey-Mohr: impact of sugary drinks on our teeth and which are the best options.
  4. Anti-Smoking:  Chemicals found in cigarettes and the health impact of smoking.
  5. Disability Awareness: activities that mimic different disabilities and treating each other with respect.
  6. Bike Safety: importance of wearing a helmet.
  7. Social Media Safety: basic ways to stay safe when using the internet, cell phones and other smart devices.
  8. Sun/Water Safety: basic ways to stay safe around water and protect your skin from UV rays.

Lunch stations included 9-1-1, DARE, Middle Point Fire Department and American Red Cross Disaster Services.

Congratulations to the Lincolnview HS Concert Choir for an outstanding performance at the Ohio Music Education Association State Large Group Contest on Saturday, April 29th at Gahanna Middle School West. The Concert Choir performed one required piece and two select pieces on the stage and received the following ratings: superior/superior/excellent. In sight-reading, the members of the choir earned a superior rating. The overall rating was a SUPERIOR. Congratulations to all of the choir members for representing Lincolnview at the state level.

Congratulations also to the members of the Lincolnview Junior High Choir for their performance at the OMEA Contest on Saturday, May 10 at Parkway High School. The JH Choir performed one required piece and two select pieces on the stage and received the following ratings: superior/superior/superior. The members want to thank Mr. Dye and the staff/board members who were able to attend our performance. In addition, the singers also appreciate the many parents who helped chaperone our trip.
