Opal F. Germann

Opal F. Germann, 92, of Van Wert, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born September 27, 1921, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Elmer and Elnora (Stemen) Leiter. On August 7, 1939, she married Raymond “Mike” Germann, who preceded her in death on July 12, 1997.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Torstad of Northport, N.Y., and Beverly (James) Imler of Tega Cay, S.C.; one brother, Fred Leiter of Van Wert; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Four brothers, one sister, and a grandson, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Philip Zielinski officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
