Glenn E. Fackler, 74, of Convoy, died at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Convoy.

He was born February 19, 1940, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Leo Fackler and Grace Marie (Mosier) Williamson. On August 2, 1959, he married Sharon K. (Helm) Fackler, who survives in Convoy.

Other survivors include a son, Michael Eugene “Mike” (Rebecca) Fackler of Van Wert; one daughter, Melanie Jane “Millie” (Lance) Clifton of Ohio City; a brother, Dick (Ethel) Fackler of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and four grandchildren, Chelsea (Ryan) Fair, Tyler Clifton, Calvin Fackler and Sydney Fackler.

A brother, Leo Fackler Jr., also preceded him in death.

Mr. Fackler was a repairman at International Harvester in Fort Wayne until 1986. He then worked at the wastewater treatment plant at Aeroquip/Eaton Corporation in Van Wert, retiring in 2003.

He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert, was a member of the National Rifle Association, Van Wert Lodge 213, Free & Accepted Masons; the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Auxiliary and Convoy Police Department.

He was widely known as a bass guitarist who played with the late “Harmonica John” Wistner.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. William Haggis officiating.

Calling hours are from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
