Cleo E. Wells

Cleo E. Wells, 85, of Van Wert, died at 3 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

He was born August 9, 1928, in Grover Hill, the son of the late Lawson and Inez (Cotterman) Wells. On June 7, 1952, he married Jackie L. (Brotherwood) Wells, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include four children, Ed (Cindy) Wells of Colorado, Ron (Linda) Wells of Convoy, Sheryl (Jim) Burns of Michigan and Jenny (Stan) Lichtenberger of Van Wert; a brother, Herman (Doris) Wells of Van Wert; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

One brother, Harold Wells; three sisters, Kate Yearling, Dorothy Dilbone and Lucille Dyer; and one grandchild, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Wells retired as a receiving clerk at Van Wert County Hospital after 31 years of service. He was a 10-year American Red Cross volunteer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 14, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: American Red Cross or the Vancrest Health Care Center Activities Fund.
