OSU Extension plans County Ag Day

The Ohio State University Extension-Van Wert County office will be having its annual Van Wert County Ag Day, starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, February 17.

Incorporated into the day’s programing is the three-hour fertilizer certification training that is needed by September 30, 2017, to obtain a required certificate to obtain and spread OSU Extension logo 4-2009fertilizer in the near future.  Guest speakers and subjects to be covered include Curtis Young, OSU Extension educator from Van Wert County, and Harold Watters, OSU-Van Wert County Extension agronomy field specialist: “Fertilizer Certification Training”; John Barker, OSU-Knox County Extension educator, “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: Toys or Tools for Agriculture”; Ed Lentz, OSU-Hancock County Extension educator, “Weeds of Concern in Crop Production”; and Young, OSU-Van Wert County Extension educator, “So You are Thinking of Dropping Your Traited Corn Hybrids — Some Things to Consider.”

A very informative day is planned, with a continental breakfast and Lunch, plus meeting materials, for only $15, with pre-registration, and $20 for walk-ins.

Ag Day will be held in the Junior Fair Building on the Van Wert County Fairgrounds. Come early and browse sponsor booths. Door prizes to be offered at the end of the meeting at approximately 3:30 p.m.  Register by calling the OSU Extension-Van Wert County office at 419.238.1214. Registration deadline: Friday, February 13.
