DELPHOS — The Lincolnview Lancer cross country teams traveled to their first meet of the regular season Saturday and competed in the Delphos St John’s Invitational.

The boys’ team placed third, just 4 points behind runner up Anna and 10 points behind meet champion New Bremen. The Lancer boys were led by Bayley Tow, who won the meet in a time of 16:40. Other top finishers for the boys included Ben Bilimek (eighth, 17:37), Alex Rodriguez (11th, 17:43), Trevor Neate (20th, 18:24), Travis Lippi (30th, 18:53), Colton Snyder (38th, 19:19), and Troy Thompson (55th, 19:54).

The girls’ team placed 12th overall and was led by sophomore Anna Gorman, who placed 22nd in a time of 22:38. Rounding out the top five for the Lady Lancers were Abbie Enyart (61st, 24:39), Claira Rhoades (96th, 26:47), Ryanne Ducheney (104th, 27:27), and Mikinzie Dull (113th, 27:58).

“The kids really competed hard today and I was very pleased with how we started the season,” said Lincolnview Coach Matt Langdon. “Congratulations to Bayley for winning the race today. He ran smart and beat some quality runners.

“We certainly have a lot of work to do to get where we want to be, but this shows the kids that all the summer miles and cross country camp running has paid off and given them a chance to be successful this season,” Coach Langdon added. “We have a short turnaround and race again Tuesday at Wayne Trace. Looking forward to seeing what footprint this team leaves.”
