Our first art class sessions begin January 3 so call soon and reserve your spot!

The first two classes to bring color to your new year will be Beginning Drawing II for youth on January 3 and Beginning Oil Painting for youth and adults, on January 4. Matt Temple has

Beginning Drawing II and Sally Geething with Oil Painting. Beginning Drawing II (youth) takes up where our Beginning Drawing class left off last fall. Beginning Drawing I, however, is not a prerequisite. Anyone can jump in and be drawing quickly with Matt’s flexible curriculum.

In the mornings and afternoons starting January 4, Sally Geething offers her beginning landscape oil classes for anyone who wishes to experiment with this medium and have some fun. Creative use of the brush can achieve many different effects in this painting technique. In the evenings on January 4 and back by popular demand is our Silk Painting class. Paint a scarf or try your hand at something else, just let us know. Linda McCann heads this session of making wearable, displayable color.

On January 5, Beginning Ceramics for adults begins and runs for four weeks. Whether you have worked with traditional ceramics and pottery before or you have never touched the stuff, this class will teach you some of the basic principles working with clay. We’ll explore slab-work, throwing or a simple coil pot; what you make is up to you.

Animé/Manga returns with a vengeance on January 7 both in the mornings and afternoons. Animé/Manga I in the morning for beginners and Animé/Manga II in the afternoon for those who have taken the first class or those who have some experience in this art genre. Matt will focus on some anatomy and more color techniques in the second level class.

The second week of January heralds the arrival of Pay Rayman with her Pastels Plus in the morning and Classic Acrylics in the afternoon. In Pastel Plus, the plus is additional medium which works well with soft pastels and will explore the effects of using these materials on various surfaces. Classic Acrylics teaches the basics of using acrylic paint and how to achieve dramatic lighting effects and create mood.

Also back by popular demand on January 28, Scott Kraemer comes in for the day to teach 2D LineArt in the morning and 3D LineArt in the afternoon. In 3D LineArt we’ll create our mind melt stream of conscious drawings on a bisque mug with underglaze. We’ll fire and they’ll be ready for pick up in a couple weeks.

ArtNight! will resume on January 10 at 6 p.m. ArtNight! is free of charge and offers an opportunity for both artists and non-artist to work together sharing ideas, techniques and offer advice. We usually have an instructor on hand to answer questions and guidance as well. The best way to expand your skills and ideation processes is to hang out with like minds!

We all wish you all a wonderful New Year and hope to see you creating in the coming year.
