Julie Rose Mullen

Julia Rose Mullen, 86, of Van Wert and formerly of Defiance, died at 3:18 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born April 27, 1924, in Monroeville, Ind., the daughter of the late Harold and Marie (Davis) Van Horn. On December 7, 1944, she married George Pangle, who preceded her in death in 1952. On June 8, 1955, she married Clarence Mullen, who also preceded her in death, on August 28, 1964.

Mrs. Mullen had formerly worked at Brookside Restaurant in Van Wert and was a member of Van Wert Victory Church.

Survivors include four children, James Pangle and Lucille (Tony) Grieshaber, both of Van Wert, Christina Molinary of Richmond, Va., and Nancy (Marvin) Gray of Latty; three brothers, Clyde Linder of Decatur, Ind., and Donald Linder and Paul Linder, both of Berne, Ind.; three sisters, Mary Brunner and Mary Ellen Duce, both of Decatur, and Donna Rose Comet of Van Wert; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A brother, James Van Horn Sr.; and two grandchildren, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the funeral home.
